[Vallejo, California – February 14, 2024] – Vallejo Sister City Association & Vallejo Sister City Commission is pleased to announce the recent visit of Principal Okuuchi Masahiro from the Akashi City Board of Education on February 14-15, 2024. This visit marked a significant step forward in the continuation of the “Sister Schools” Program between Vallejo and Akashi.
The purpose of Principal Masahiro’s visit was to follow-up on the “Sister Schools” Program and solidify the partnership initiated during the Round Table Discussion with the Akashi Sister City delegation to Vallejo in September 2023. During our subsequent visit to Akashi on October 30, 2023, discussions with Akashi officials affirmed their interest in establishing a Sister School program, preferably with one of our Junior High Schools.
Principal Masahiro’s itinerary included visits to several educational institutions in Vallejo, starting with St. Patrick/St. Vincent High School, followed by Mare Island Technology Academy. Lunch was hosted at Zio Fraedo’s shortly after the tour.
“We were excited about the potential of this partnership and the opportunities it would create for cultural exchange and educational collaboration between Vallejo and Akashi, ” stated Dinah L. Villanueva-Ryan who is the Chairperson for the Vallejo-Akashi Sister Cities Committee.
We were delighted to announce that we are strengthening the Sister Schools partnership between Baguio City National High School and Griffin Technology High School.
