Vallejo Sister City Delegation Attends Colorful Panagbenga Flower Festival in Baguio City, Philippines

Baguio City, Philippines [February 21, 2025] In a vibrant display of cultural unity and international friendship, a delegation representing our Sister City program recently traveled to Baguio City, Philippines, to take part in the world-renowned Panagbenga Flower Festival. The trip, held in February, marked a successful chapter in the growing bond between our city and Baguio.

VSCA President Emerita Dinah Villanueva-Ryan led the delegation and arranged all of the logistics for a successful visit of our ten delegates, which included Former State Senator Bill Dodd, his wife Mary Dodd, Former Vice-Mayor Rozanna Verder-Aliga, her spouse Retired US Amy Col. Nestor Aliga, Riz Aliga, VSCA President Norma Placido, her spouse Leonardo Placido, Candy Villanueva and VSCA Treasurer Helen Casaclang.

A summary of the visit during a recent briefing, highlighting the group’s active involvement in the festival’s grand festivities. “It was a successful trip,” said President Placido. “Our delegation was honored to participate in the grand parade and attend several cultural and civic events that underscored the strength of our sisterhood with Baguio City.”

The Panagbenga Flower Festival, known for its dazzling flower floats and street dancing parades, brought together not only locals but also representatives from other Baguio sister cities. This diverse and enthusiastic turnout showcased the global appeal of the festival and reaffirmed the strong international ties Baguio continues to cultivate.
